Boatie Logbook – Terms and Conditions

Please read these Terms carefully before using Boatie Logbook (the “Service”) operated by MSSW Solutions Ltd (“we”, “us”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

What Boatie Logbook is (and is not)

Boatie Logbook helps you record passages, tracks, crew and related notes, and export records such as PDFs. Maps, weather, AIS and instrument features are aids only. The app is not a primary means of navigation or a certified safety system. Man Overboard tools are convenience features — they do not replace dedicated safety equipment, training or emergency procedures. Mile Builder and similar summaries are tools to help you organise records; they do not guarantee acceptance by examiners, clubs, insurers or authorities.

Purchases, preview and subscriptions

New downloads may include a time-limited preview so you can try the app before purchasing. Paid options may include:

  • Basic — a one-time In‑App Purchase; and/or
  • Extended or Premium — auto-renewing subscriptions (monthly or annual, as offered in the App Store).

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. Manage or cancel auto-renew in your Apple Account settings or, where available, in the app. We do not control Apple’s refund decisions.

All upgrades and related purchases must be made via Apple In‑App Purchase. Apple’s terms apply — Apple Media Services terms.

Your content and crew sharing

You retain ownership of the log content you create. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you record and for anyone you invite to a shared passage (including what they can see or contribute). Do not share personal data about crew or others unless you have a right to do so.

Acceptable use

  • Do not misuse, reverse engineer, or attempt to disrupt the Service.
  • Do not use the Service unlawfully or to harass others.
  • Keep your device and Apple Account secure.

Intellectual property

The app and our branding belong to us. Third-party map, weather and data services remain subject to their providers’ terms. You must not copy or redistribute the Service except as allowed by Apple’s rules and applicable law.

“As is” and liability

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that exports will meet a particular certification, charter, insurance or legal requirement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on map, weather, AIS, instrument or log data, from shared-passage use, from loss of connectivity or iCloud issues, or from inability to use the Service — including consequential loss — whether or not we were advised of the possibility.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

Changes and availability

We may change, suspend or discontinue the Service (or parts of it), and may change prices for future purchases or subscription periods via the App Store. We are not liable to you for those changes.

Apple’s EULA

Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies: Apple Standard EULA. If these Terms conflict with Apple’s EULA on a point Apple requires, Apple’s EULA prevails on that point.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page. The effective date below will change when we do.

These Terms are effective as of 28 July 2026.
